Harry was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Wanda L Burgess, siblings Bessie M. Kemper, R. Margaret Wallace, Ruth A. Huston, and Kenneth Burgess.
He was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran. He was a waist gunner on a B-17 "Evanton Babe" in the 8th Air Force, 731st bomb squadron. His plane was shot down over Holland on March 6,1944. Harry was captured and was a POW for 14 months in Stualft IV and VI. He was liberated on April 26,1945 in Bitterfeld, Germany. He was awarded the purple Heart, a Bronze Star, AAF Air Crew Member badge(wings) and a European Tour medal He was the last WWII POW in Hocking County.
