Gary W. Beard (1934 - 2015)

SALAMANCA - Gary W. Beard, formerly of 3158 W. State Road, Olean, passed away Wednesday (April 22, 2015) at the Absolut of Salamanca, where he had been a resident in recent years.

Born Aug. 20, 1934, in Olean, he was the son of Earl William and Bernice C. Chamberlain Beard. On June 16, 1984, at St. Peter and Paul Church in Arcade, he married Sharon M. Holmes, who predeceased him Feb. 8, 2001.

Gary first worked along with his father at the former Beard Paint and Body Co. in Olean. In later years, he worked for SubCon Industries, which is where he and his wife met. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed visiting with friends passing by as he was sitting in his front yard.

Surviving are a sister, Ann (Eric) Fuller of Olean; three nieces, Beth (Steven) Hoosier of Lexington, S.C., Jill (Tony) Peralta of Silver Spring, Md., and Erin (Scott) Hogan of Owings Mills, Md.; eight grandnieces and grandnephews; and two cousins, Bruce Danielson of Fond Du Lac, Wis., and Janet Beard of Sleepy Hollow.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by many aunts, uncles and cousins; and two close friends, Floyd Hurlburt and Floyd Holtz.

Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
