Keith Crane, 92 of Salem, Oregon died from a broken heart November 23, 2014. Keith was born August 5th, 1922 to Henery Crane and Virginia (Fizer) Crane. He was raised in West Stayton on a small family farm commonly referred to as "Crane's Corner". Keith was the youngest of 14 children and last sibling to survive. Keith began working on local farms at an early age. He met his future wife Evelyn, while picking green beans during the summer. He later went on to work for the Conservation Corp Camps (CCCs) completing different projects in Marion County. In 1942 Keith enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Sicily, Italy during WWII. He worked with the 485th Bomber Squadron as a mechanic on the aircraft commonly known as the "Liberator". He was honorably discharged in 1944. After the war Keith attended several reunions with the 485th Squadron. After returning to Salem, Keith worked for the State of Oregon as a Highway Maintenance worker until retiring in 1983. He married Evelyn Berger in 1947 and had two children. Keith was a member of the VFW. He was also an active member of the Salem Elks Lodge for fifty years. Keith and his wife Evelyn enjoyed participating with the Elks RV camper's club activities. After retirement Keith and Evelyn would travel to Yuma, Arizona for the winter months with several close friends. Keith is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn of 67 years and his son Daniel.

He is survived by: his daughter: Christie (Crane) Peron of Ashland, Oregon; grandsons: Cody and Ryan Peron of Bend, Oregon; niece: Jan Sloan of Salem; nephews: Larry King, and Scot Mason both of Salem.

A Memorial service will begin at 12:30 PM on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Contributions may be given in his name to the Union Gospel Mission.
