UNCLE GEORGE ACRE DIES
Geo. W. Acre, one of Putnam county's oldest and most respected citizens, died at his home west of Unionville last Sunday morning at the age of 91 years.
Uncle George as he was known, was a familiar figure on the streets of Unionville, having been quite active until recently and will be greatly missed by all. While he has not been in good health for two or three years, he had not been seriously ill, until the past two or three weeks. He was born in Miami county, Indiana, on May 29, 1842, and moved to Putnam county with his parents in October 1856. In 1861 Uncle George enlisted in the Union army and served four years. On March 17, 1868, he married Miss Harriett Winchell and a short time later moved to the farm west of Unionville where he remained ubtil his death. Mrs. Acre preceded him in death Sept. 20, 1915.
