Kris Manning of DeWitt, IA died peacefully with family and friends by her side Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Pathway Hospice at Trinity Terrace Park in Bettendorf, IA.

Kris lovingly called “Krissy” or “Purdy” by those near to her died after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kris was a wonderful and loving mother to her two sons Bryon and Ryan. She had the most infectious laugh and had a knack for always making those around her smile. She would always have a great story to tell you – sometimes even more than once! She loved being with her friends and family. She always had fun anytime she was outdoors, whether it is relaxing, gardening or enjoying her favorite band – she knew how to have a good time! She had a great love for her pets, especially her dog Kolbee Boy who was her latest pride and joy and her two kitties Macy and Meesha.

Kris was one of the most generous, kind people you would ever meet. She didn’t want anyone to know she was sick because she didn’t want others to worry about her. She never complained. She was so proud of her grandsons and loved to spoil them as best as she could. She also enjoyed her nieces and nephews who could always make her smile.

Kris was born March, 1, 1955 in Elyria, OH to Larry and Joan Kelly. Kris graduated from DeWitt Central High School in 1973. She worked for Iowa Mutual Insurance Company for 35 years and made many great friends while working there.

Those left to honor her memory are her two sons Bryon & Jessy of Maquoketa,IA and Ryan of Oxford Junction, IA. Four grandsons, Drew, Mitchell, Kole and Bryon Jr. (Bry Bry). Her parents Larry and Joan Kelly of DeWitt, IA, brother Scott & Julie Kelly of West Branch, IA sister Sue & Tim Shinbori of Davenport, IA. Also her nephews and nieces Sean, Cole and Ahlena Kelly and Katerina and Malia Shinbori. Her grandmothers Joyce Bartling of Grand Mound, IA and Vaneta Youngworth of Vermillion, SD.
