Bill Turner, 55, of Mt. Vernon, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born March 2, 1960, in Mt. Vernon, son of Arthur and Darlene (Mifflin) Turner.
Mr. Turner is survived by his father, Arthur Turner of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Clinton Turner and wife Lisa of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Cheryl Perrin of Mt. Vernon; nieces and nephews; Terry Morgan, Lacey Perrin, Trace Turner, Crayton Turner and Maggie Turner all of Mt. Vernon; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jerika and Julana Morgan, both of Mattoon and Trinity and Gabriel Morgan, both of Mt. Vernon; aunts and uncles, Roger and Barbara Mifflin, and Andy and Charlotte Morgan, all of Mt. Vernon; Janet and Jerry Graham of Ava, and Carolyn Kubiak of Lexington, Michigan; and step-uncles, Roy, Jack and Richard Matherly.
He was precedeed in death by his Mother; grandparents, Iona Turner Matherly, Arthur Berdell Turner, Alice (Morber) Mifflin, and Clinton David Mifflin; and uncle , Albert Mifflin.
Mr. Turner was a graduate of Summersville Grade School and a 1978 graduate of Mt. Vernon Township High School. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 755 in Mt. Vernon, the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141. He was an avid dart player and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He worked at Borowiak's IGA and Sara Lee Bread Company until failing health. He was baptized at Meadowbrook Christian Church. He was anticipating the birth of great-niece Jacelynn Gray Lumpkins in July.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Stacy Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 Rifle Squad and will be accepted at the funeral home.
