Robert (Bob) Jerry Hagerman (79), born to Clarence V. and Nettie M. (Wager) Hagerman October 23, 1934 in Fulton Township, Michigan passed away August 17, 2014 in Lansing, Michigan. Bob was a devoted husband to his wife of 53 years Joan Marie (Bennett) Hagerman who preceded him in death on August 27, 2007.

Surviving Bob are his children Brian Robert (Kristie Dennis) Hagerman, Mitchell James Hagerman, and Vickie Lynn (Ricky) Dadd. Also surviving Bob are his ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and his brother Clarence V. Hagerman Jr. Preceding Bob in death were his brothers Carlos G., Russell A., Leon J. (Jack), Richard L. (Dick), Gary L., and his sisters Thelma M. Woodring, Mildred M. Hiar, and Betty Lee Hagerman.

Bob was known for his ready smile and outstretched hand as he met new people or greeted his many friends. Bob was an extremely intelligent man of whom it was said by an engineer co-worker, "He taught me things I thought I knew." Bob combined that trait with his skills as a craftsman machinist, as well as his empathy for those he led, and he rapidly advanced through the Olofsson Corporation to become Superintendant, eventually managing all three manufacturing plants in his 43 year career.

Bob paid his experience forward by teaching at Lansing Community College where he invested in the lives of students. He gave back to others that which he had gained and enjoyed watching others grow.

Bob Hagerman's real success, though, was in the way he made other people feel about themselves. That seems to be a family trait that was nurtured by his mother and father, and this ability is shared by his brothers and sisters who all worked to serve and aid others in need. This foundation of solid family values and unselfish service to others was also at the heart of his core relationships. His wife, Joanie, was his number one passion and partner in life. They shared a love for their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and their love for each other and their Lord grew as the challenges of life mounted. Bob was a devoted father and grandfather who lit up when his kids and grandkids were with him.

Even in the midst of his own failing health Bob retained his sense of humor and his concern for those around him. He had a way of endearing himself to people, and he was often referred to as "such a sweet man." If you never got to meet Bob Hagerman, you missed a treat.

The family invites you to join us in celebrating the life of Robert (Bob) Hagerman, Friday August 29, 2014 at Faith Church on 2300 Lake Lansing Road, Lansing, MI 48912. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00A.M. until 10:30 A.M., with the service and meal to follow.

Donations can be made to Sparrow Hospice House of Mid Michigan in lieu of flowers. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.grlansing.com
