Dwight Geron "Swamp Rabbit" Harper, Sr., 51, of the Maribel Community, Bayboro, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 30, 2010.

A native of Bayboro, Dwight was a graduate of Pamlico County High School and employed with NADEP. He attended Livingstone College and was a member of West Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Civically, Dwight was a member of the Masonic Order and of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Henry Harper and Nefferittee Fisher Harper; 1 brother, Henry Douglas Harper; 1 sister, Angela Harper Dunlap; and on Thursday, December 11, 2008, by his beloved son, Dwight Geron Harper, Jr.

Dwight will be forever cherished by: 1 brother, Hilliard Raynard Harper of Danville, Virginia; 1grandson, Jeremiah Geron Harper of Fayetteville; uncle, Elder Frederick W. Fisher and aunt, Marva Fisher Baldwin both of Merritt; 1 sister-in-law, Margaret Wilson Harper of Aquasco, Maryland; nephew, Shannon Dunlap of Durham; niece, Jessica Harper of Aquasco, Maryland; and an extended family of cousins and beloved friends.

The family will be receiving their friends and guests at the residence of his cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony & Dawn Gibson, 354 Fisher Road, Merritt.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 12 noon-6pm at Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, Inc., 701 West Street, New Bern. Viewing resumes on Friday at the NB East. M.B. Assoc. Headquarters in Grantsboro, one hour prior to the service. Homegoing Service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11AM in the New Bern Eastern Missionary Baptist Association Headquarters, 885 Highway 306 N., Grantsboro, with the Pastor Tony Credle, Officiating, Eulogist. Interment will immediately follow the service in the Fisher Family Cemetery, Merritt.
