*******
Suggested edit: John Henry Claiborne McCormick b. July 10, 1837 in Jasper County, Mississippi served in Co. H, 27th Miss. Infantry Regiment. Despite what the headstone says, no doubt furnished many years after the Civil War, he died on Aug. 23, 1864 at Reid Soldiers' Hospital, in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. His body was probably being transported home when it was removed from the train as had to be done with all freight passing to or from West Point because of the different gauges in the rail line there. His body was probably buried there instead of reloading on another car for unknown reasons. Source: Compiled Military Service Records at Fold3.com show his military service and about 50 family trees on Ancestry.com show is full name and location of death.
