Born in Watertown, N.Y., she moved to Washington, D.C., in 1973 to work on Capitol Hill. Soon after, she began employment with the Mars Company in McLean, before taking a job with the Stafford County Public Schools, where she worked for 28 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Michael, and her husband, Christopher, and their three children, Reed, Mira and Shane, all of Purcellville; brother Philip Anzalone and his wife, Patti, of Hardeeville; sister Angela Crescenzi and her husband, Jim, of Watertown; sister Mary Sanchez and her husband, Tom, of Black River, N.Y.; her stepson, Chris Shelton of Alexandria; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Lillian Anzalone; and her husband of 38 years, Richard.
A celebration of life will take place near her hometown at a later date.
To honor Gloria’s life, the family requests that a donation be made to an animal charity of one’s choice.
