Bonnie Lou Whitehead Bope-Kennedy, 73, of Bremen, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bremen to Marvin Whitehead and Clara Kline Frenger on July 2, 1940. Bonnie spent 25 wonderful years with her husband, Troy Kennedy. She drove truck for over 20 years with Troy, and she also worked for Schafer Gear Works for 20 years. Bonnie was a lifetime member of the Bremen Missionary Church. Family was Bonnie's first priority, especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook and could often be found playing board games or holding her cat, Farkles. Bonnie loved to travel; she would visit a waterfall whenever she got the chance. Bonnie will forever be missed by her family and friends.

Bonnie is survived by her mother, Clara Frenger of Bremen; her husband, Troy Kennedy of Bremen; three sons, Curtis (Cathy) Whitehead of Suamico, WI, Keith Bope of North Liberty, and Rex (Carmen) Bope of South Bend; four daughters, Cheryl (Rod) Davis of Lakeville, Monica (Bope) Payne of South Bend, Tracey Bope of Mishawaka, and Ruby Roxanne Bope of Lakeville; a stepdaughter, Larraine Kennedy of Arizona; two stepsons, Joseph (Paula) Kennedy of Alaska and Adam (Melanie) Kennedy of California; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granchild; nine siblings, Marvalene (Norman) Schini of Bremen, Harold (Janie) Frenger of Bristol, Kenneth Frenger of Bremen, Richard (Emy) Frenger of Bremen, Margaret Whitehead, Ruthie Whitehead, Marvin Whitehead, Jr., Carri Whitehead, and Sharri Whitehead; one uncle, Dale Whitehead; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin; maternal grandparents, George Howard and Sylvia Kline; and paternal grandparents, Hallet and Maudie Whitehead.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Bremen Missionary Church. Pastor Gary Hinkle will officiate the service.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
