ARTHUR CROOKS, PORTLAND PASSES
Brocton – Arthur Crooks, 73, who had been ill for a long time, died en-route to Westfield Memorial Hospital Saturday (January 23, 1954). He was born in Steamburg on September 19 1880, and had been a resident of the Town of Portland nearly 50 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice Frank Crooks; three sons, Clayton Crooks of Dunkirk, Charles Crooks of Brockton and James Crooks, at home. Two stepchildren, Robert Bickestaff of Enid, Okla., and Mrs. Anita Moon of Erie Pa., and eleven grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Crooks was a switch Tender for the Nickle Plate railroad for a number of years before his retirement.
He was a lover of the outdoors and was a member of the Western New York Fox Hunters Association.
Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Morse Funeral Home with the Rev. J.L. Petrie of the Brocton Methodist Church officiating. Internment was in Evergreen Cemetery, in Portland
