Alice King Burr CHARLOTTE - Alice King Burr, 92, passed away Wednesday May 21, 2014. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of the late Lon and Lena Brown King. She was a member of A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church and was a member of the Women of the ELCA. She is survived by her husband Norman Henry Burr; two children Carol Ann Burr Stroup and husband Robert Caswell Stroup of Charlotte and David Edward Burr of Mount Holly; one sister Gladys Barrett of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren Scott L. Stroup and wife Connie of Charlotte, Tracy Ann Stroup Denby and husband Paul of Mooresville, and Matthew Norman Stroup and wife Carrie of Stanley and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Burr will be held 1:00pm Sunday June 1, 2014, at A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church in Charlotte with Reverend John Petry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family interment will follow the service at Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
