She was a 1933 Central Catholic High School graduate in McSherrystown. She was in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services), a division of the the U.S. Naval Reserve during WWII, and was employed with Jack Tar Togs, Littlestown.
Surviving are nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her son, Joseph L. Riley; 3 brothers: George, Clement & Charles Sneeringer and 6 sisters: Sister Marie Assumpta, Sister Miriam Joseph, Julia Weiser, Baby Genevieve, Rose Williams and Frances long.
Rita was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown.
Following a Mass of Christian Burial is at her church with The Rev. James M. Sterner Celebrant, interment is in the parish cemetery with full military honors conducted by Littlestown Allied Veterans Council.
