Hobert was retired from D. H. Campbell, Inc., having worked as a mechanic and welder. He had worked for Stearns Mining Company and had driven a coal truck. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God and loved going to church. He also enjoyed fishing, working and piddling.
Born January 22, 1932, in Holly Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Elmon and Amanda (Campbell) Perkins. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Nelma Ruth (Taylor) Perkins.
Surviving family include a daughter Cathy Cox (husband Mike) of Pine Knot, a son Stanley Perkins (wife Andrea) of Lebanon, Indiana, a grandchild, Jason Perkins (wife Brandy), step grandchildren; Michael Bostick, Misty Crabtree, Amy Martin (husband Daniel) and Tosha Cox. He has one great grandchild, Cayley Ann Perkins and four step-grandchildren; Mandy, Gracee and Erica Martin and Austin Cox.
Funeral services Monday, May 11, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. William Kilby officiating. Burial at the T. Chitwood Cemetery. Visitation Sunday evening from 6 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
