A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Charles L. “Dago” Redlich, Jr., 91, who died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 1:15 a.m. at Acadia General Hospital.

Fr. Mark Miley and Msgr. Paul Metrejean will con-celebrate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to service time. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Redlich proudly served four years in the US Navy in the South Pacific. He was one of the 9 crew members on PT Boat 149 which patrolled the waters of the South Pacific. In 1948 he opened Dago’s Record Shop which was a favorite hangout for teenagers listening to the latest records. During this time, he also recorded local swamp pop and Cajun musicians, he was the first manager of local singer/songwriter, Bobby Charles, who wrote and recorded “See You Later Alligator”. “Dago” was also proud to serve as a volunteer for many years with the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
“Dago” is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sadie Hanks Redlich of Crowley; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Leon Redlich, Sr. and Emma Fruge Redlich; three sisters, Lillian R. Campbell, Ethel R. Leger and Julie R. Hargrave; three brothers, William “Hoss” Redlich, Henry J. “Hank” Redlich, Sr. and Johnny Redlich.

Pallbearers will be Willard Sterling, Jr., Robert John, Jr., Bryan Hanks, Steven Champney, Joey Redlich, and Donnie Redlich. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Campbell, Dale Campbell, Carl Hanks, and Bobby John.
