Pamela resigned her Air Force commission after two and a half years on active duty as an Air Force Captain in Nursing Services. While Bob served with the AFROTC Detachment at Florida State University, Pam worked at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital as a nurse until the birth of their daughter, Jennifer in 1973. In 1977 her second daughter, Kelly, was born. Pam chose to devote her life to raising her daughters. Bob and Pam were reassigned to Ramstein, Germany in September 1977, where they served a four-year assignment.
During the years since 1983, Pam worked as a nurse directgor in the Optifast Weight Loss Program, at what was then St. Margaret's Hospital, a nurse for Hospice of Montgomery, and became a staff nurse and manager at Baptist Medical Center East.
When Bob was asked what her most important qualities were and what she would be most remembered for, he said, "She was the least judgmental and the most accepting person I had ever met. She was totally incapable of telling a lie." In fact, when he was asked about Pam's preference for clothing, style or food, he reported, "she was always excruciatingly honest." Fortunately, Bob was thick skinned. Her daughters, Jennifer and Kelly, were always the pride and joy of her life.
