Freddie A. Hammond, 85, of Waxahachie died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at his home. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Interment: Red Oak Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Red Oak to Alton B. and Era Stinson Hammond. He was an accomplished pilot and golfer. He served in the U.S. Army in Occupied Japan. He was a loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother. Survivors: His wife, Judy Hammond of Waxahachie; children, Dennis Hammond of Garland, Dawn Hammond Whitman and husband, Tom, of Irving, Stevan Hammond of Dallas, Cynthia Martinez of San Antonio and Eric Hammond of Garland; stepson, J.R. Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; beloved niece, Renee and nephew, Richard.
