Mrs. Day attended Calvary Baptist Church of Lyndhurst, Virginia. She worked as a cashier at Hardees for 23 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Austin Hoy, James Hoy, Aubrey Hoy, and Guy William Hoy; and sister, Christine Hoy. Survivors include her husband, Samuel Mack Day; children, Mark Alan Day and wife, Connie, and Marcia (Day) Helmick; grandsons, Jonathan Edward Helmick and Michael Allen Helmick; sisters-in-law, Clara Hoy and Louise Hoy; nephew, Johnny Hoy and wife, Theresa; and nieces, Debbi Hoy and Mary Lee Akers and husband, B.C.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street.
At her request there will be no formal services.
