Rodney Eugene Wright, 57, of Jonesboro, died at 6:32 pm Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was born on Jan 21, 1958, in Anna, the son of Everett and Blanche Mathis Wright.
He is survived by his children, Michel (Shelly) Wright of Anna, Crystal (Bumper)Gurley of Alto Pass and Kristen Rendleman of Anna; his mother, Blanche Wright of Anna; grandchildren Mallory Wright of Pontiac, Drew Gurley of Alto Pass, Tyler Cole of Jonesboro and John Robert Wright of Anna; beloved friend Teri Clarke of Jonesboro; one sister, Darla Wright (Henry Decker) of Anna; one brother, Everett "Junior" (Vickie) Wright of Spokane, Washington; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He was a 1976 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. He retired from Columbia Quarry, where he worked for 20 years. He owned and operated Wright Brothers and Rod's Towing for over 30 years and was a member of the Union County Rescue Squad.
He loved his family, towing, working, racing, collecting classic cars, playing softball and helping others in need in the community.
Funeral services for Mr. Wright were at 11 am Saturday, May 2, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Pastor Randy Wheaton and Bill Carter officiating. Interment was in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
