Major League Baseball Player. For eleven seasons (1972 to 1982), he was a pitcher with the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. Born Lynn Everett McGlothen, he attended Simsboro High School in (Louisiana), prior to being selected by the Red Sox during the 3rd round of the 1968 Amateur Draft. He marked his Major League debut on June 25th, 1972 and recorded 8 wins in 22 games pitched that season. McGlothen's best body of work was while with the Cardinals, when he produced three consecutive double-digit victory years (1974 to 1976), including his career-high 16 wins with an impressive 2.69 ERA in 1974, earning All-Star status. In 318 regular season games, he compiled an 86 win, 93 loss record with a 3.98 lifetime ERA in 1,497 innings pitched. McGlothen died from smoke inhalation during a mobile home fire at age 34.
