Mrs. Mary Alice Young, 74, Science Hill, died at her home Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. She had been in failing health for several years.
Mrs. Young was born near Mt. Zion, July 16, 1872 and was a daughter of Green M. Hines and Mariah Elizabeth Atkerson Hines. She was united in marriage to William H. Eastham July 12, 1894, and to this union were born eight children. Mr. Eastham and three children preceded her in death. In 1931 she was united in marriage to Harlan Young, who survives her. Mrs. Young was a member of the Science Hill Christian Church and lived a consecrated Christian life. She was ever thankful for the kind deeds and visits from her neighbors and friends during her many months of illness. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Survivors in addition to her husband are five children, Denny Eastham and Willard Eastham, both of California, Cecil Eastham and Mrs. Golda Klingelhoffer, both of Cincinnati and Mrs. Ona Dunagan of East Somerset; twenty-two grandchildren; two step children, Mrs. Delta Roy and Mrs. Irene Sweeney of Science Hill; and a brother, Parker Hines of Oklahoma.
Funeral services were held at the Science Hill Christian Church Saturday afternoon, the Rev. L.D. Fisher officiating, assisted by Rev. Elkins of Science Hill Nazarene Church. Burial followed in the Science Hill cemetery.
