Mrs. Cruikshank was a daughter of the late William G. and Anna Thornton Beck of Portland and a granddaughter of the late William Beck, pioneer Portland merchant. She was married in 1907 to Louis A. Cruikshank. The husband survives, as do two sons, William L., Eugene, and Edwin T. Cruikshank, Portland, and a sister, Mrs. George M. Noltner, Portland.
A graduate of the old Portland high school and a school teacher here for six years, Mrs. Cruikshank had spent all her life here except for eight years, 1919 to 1927, during which the family lived in Pendleton.
