Mathew E. Carson, 88, of 433 Bethany Drive, Lower Allen Twp., died yesterday in Holy Spirit Hospital.

He retired from Bethlehem Steel as chief engineer; was a member and elder of Christ Presbyterian Church, Camp Hill; and a member of Steelton-Swatara Lodge 775 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Consistory, Capital City Scottish Rite Club, Zembo Temple, Zembo Luncheon Club and Keystonian Club.

He was the widower of Esther R. Carson. Surviving are his wife, M. Elizabeth Carson.
