Mildred Viola Jennings Wood, 98, of Charlottesville, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. She was born on January 31, 1917, in Boonesville, Virginia, to the late Henry E. Jennings and Nettie Jones Jennings.
She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert E. Wood.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Wood and his wife Jean of Keswick, Va.; six grandchildren, Larry Wood, Sharon Ament, Randy Wood, Scott Wood, Chris Wood, and Kimberly Wood. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren, many devoted nieces and nephews, and her long time friends, Blanche Morris and Barbara Doniel.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred is preceded in death by her sons, Freddie Wood and Gene Wood.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
