Stanley was born November 26, 1921 in Downey, Idaho, the son of LeRoy and Hannah Barnes.
He married Betty Mae Owens on July 19, 1951 in Elko, Nevada.
Stanley attended Marsh Valley High School and LDS Business College.
He worked for Phillips Petroleum then was with Associated Food Stores for thirty years until his retirement in 1987.
He was a decorated veteran of World War II, earning several medals, including the Purple Heart.
One of his greatest joys was being "Barnaby" the elf at the annual work Christmas party. He also enjoyed working in his flower beds and moving his sprinklers.
He was a kind and gentle man, who never complained, and taught us all how to be better through his example.
Stanley is survived by three sons, Kevin (Donna) Barnes, Kelly Barnes, and Steven (Leta) Barnes; nine grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and grandson, Nathan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bountiful Twelfth Ward Chapel, 1475 North 300 West, Bountiful. A viewing will be held from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church,l prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Malad, Idaho Cemetery.
