Frances C. Caudle, 95, of Van Meter, died of heart failure Friday, April 7, 2000 at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset. Services were held April 12 at the DeSoto United Methodist Church, with burial at the DeSoto Cemetery.

Frances Caudle was born at Panther and had lived more than 60 years in the Van Meter and DeSoto area on the family farm. She lived 10 years in the Big Ben Lake, Calif. area.

She was a farm wife and a member of the DeSoto United Methodist Church. She loved gardening and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Lee Caudle; four brothers, Hiram Sutherland, Sidney Sutherland, Clifford Sutherland and Roger Sutherland; two sisters, Grace Hessner and Eunice Towns.

She is survived by one son, Duane D. Caudle of Van Meter; two grandchildren, Ron Caudle of Adel and Beverly Tyer of DeSoto; four great-grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
