Reynaldo Alvarado Sr., longtime resident of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away peacefully on May 3, 2015 surrounded by his loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Born to Regino and Juanita Alvarado in Mathis, Texas on October 30, 1932, Rey was one of ten siblings. He served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean War era.

Rey met Carmen, the love of his life, in Mathis, where they married. In 1962, they moved their family to Moses Lake where they raised four wonderful boys and resided until 2009. Rey enjoyed watching them grow up and loved following them play baseball and umpiring. He was so proud of his sons and cherished the great memories they made. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed fishing and family BBQs along with spending time sharing family stories. Rey loved watching the Mariners and the Seahawks.

Rey retired with the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Rey is survived by sons Reynaldo Jr., Henry (Andrea) and Michael (Danielle); brothers Jesus and Gilberto; grandchildren Mario (Stacey), Veronica, Laura, Brianna and Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Regino and Juanita Alvarado, his wife Carmen, and seven siblings.

Rosary held May 6 at Cheney Funeral Chapel. Funeral service held May 7 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cheney.
