Mrs. Evans was a native of Emanuel County, GA having made North Augusta her home for the past 17 years. She was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church where she shared her passion for music and singing. Mrs. Evans was an avid Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves fan and retired from Hamrick’s with over 30 years of service. She was a talented seamstress, a wonderful cook and loved to travel. Mrs. Evans enjoyed get-togethers with her friends and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love she shared with all people. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents Linton Lionel Ridgdill and Lois Inez Bishop Ridgdill; her first husband, J.D. Johnson, formerly of Canoochee; her second husband, A. Gary Evans of North Augusta; five sisters, Ruth R. Murray, Dorothy R. McKenzie, Idell R. Perkins, Oris R. Lewis, and Marion R. Haynie; and three brothers, Irwin Linton Ridgdill, Junius B. Ridgdill, and John Louis Ridgdill.
Survivors include four children, David Keith (Linda) Johnson of North Augusta, SC, Jeffery Ken (Theresa) Johnson of Hephzibah, GA, Robin (Joe) Saxon of Augusta, GA, Phillip Johnson of Burnettown, SC; six grandchildren, Jay (Melissa) Johnson, Holly (Ryan) Heckendorn, Jeffery (Melissa) Johnson, John Saxon, Stephanie (Josh) Anderson, Phillip Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Luke Johnson, Rae Johnson, Kaylee Noggle, Samantha Heckendorn, Zane Johnson, Zach Johnson, Joplin Anderson and McCartney Anderson; several nieces, nephews, and other family.
Pallbearers will be Jay Johnson, Ryan Heckendorn, Zane Johnson, Zach Johnson, Jeffery Johnson and Jerry Johnson.
