Wilma Ruth (Weidemier) Oliver, 98, of Girard, died at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2015 in the Medicalodge in Girard where she entered in September of 2010.

She was born June 23, 1916 in Trenton, Missouri, a daughter of Burt Warren and Margaret Leslie (Boyce) Weidemier. The family moved to Cameron, Missouri where she graduated from high school in 1934 and she attended Missouri Wesleyan College.

Wilma married Mearl G. Oliver on January 11, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri. Mearl preceded her in death on March 26, 1997.

Wilma and Mearl lived in Houston, Texas from 1942 until moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1946. They moved to Lamar, Missouri in 1957 and to Girard in 1963.

Wilma helped deliver Meals on Wheels and she delivered books from the library to shut-ins. She often went to the rest home and made friends with the residents. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, a Boy and Girl Scout leader, teacher's helper, neighborhood mother, she helped at the thrift Shop, and starting in high school, she taught Sunday school for primary children.

Wilma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Girard, the Women's Society of Christian Services, United Methodist Women, and Ruth Circle. She was a member of the Fidelis Civic Club, the Parent Teacher Association, election boards, Red Cross, and the Social Friends Extension Club.

Survivors are a daughter, Susan Robinson and Dave of Mulberry, Kansas; sons David Oliver and Roberta of Bates City, Missouri, Timothy Oliver and Sandy of Joplin, Missouri, Patrick Oliver of Overland Park, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren;
Wilma was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Robinson, a sister, Margaret Keaberle, and brothers Wayne Weidemier and Warren Weidemier.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Jeff Owen officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Thursday.
