EMMA WENDLING IS DEAD AT 93

North Salem - Emma H. Wendling, 93, died at 10 p.m. Friday at the Continental Nursing Home in Indianapolis. She had been admitted to the home only two weeks ago, but had been in failing health for several months. Mrs. Wendling, a Putnam County native, was the widow of George E. Wendling who operated a hardware store in North Salem for several years. The deceased was affiliated with North Salem Chapter 276, Order of Eastern Star, and the Women's Club. Mrs. Wendling was a member of the North Salem Christian Church. Born on Nov. 7, 1876, she was the daughter of James and Dulcina Young Hanna. She was educated in Putnam County schools and later attended Central Normal College at Danville. Her marriage to Mr. Wendling was solemnized in Roachdale. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Davis of Danville; three grandchildren, Phillip and Susan, also of Danville, and Mrs. Nancy Wood of Lake Park, Fla., and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Porter Funeral Home at North Salem with Rev. Ray Britton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
