Mrs. Arlene Denton George age 89 of McMinnville, TN, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at N.H.C. Health Care Center in McMinnville, TN. She was born April 13, 1928, in White County, TN, was a retired employee of Genesco Shoe Company and was notably known for her business called The Lunch Basket in Centertown. Mrs. George was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ at Centertown, Centertown C.I.C., and was preceded in death by her parents Barlow and Flossie (Whiteaker) Denton, her oldest son Dannye Ray George, and was the last survivor of ten siblings.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years Warden Hulan George, children Janice (Tylee) Marcum, Connie (Tony) King, Gary (Debra) George, Alan (Julia) George, and Bobby George, daughter-in-law Jeanette George, grandchildren Christy (Chris) Wood, Brandon (Sheila) Marcum, Briena Harmening, Matt (Jessica George, Kayla Hale, Marie (Josh) Miller, Cordon and Dylan King, and great grandchildren Braden Marcum, Hayden Hale, Hennessee Cope, and Zoe Raye Wood. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A. M. Friday, June 02, 2017, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Doris Hughes and Bro. Ted Batey will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. and again Friday from 10:00 A. M. Until 11:00 P. M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Fountain or to the Lunch Program at Ivy Bluff Church of Christ.
