Ionia Sentinel Standard - Sat. April 26, 1975

Mrs. Hortense S. Leak, 96, former Lake Odessa resident, died early Friday morning at the Belding Christian Nursing home. She had been a patient there since April 1, 1974.

Born in Sebewa Township November 7, 1878, she was the daughter of Jacob and Ella Martin Warner.

In December of 1897, she was married in Ionia to David Leak and they lived all their married lives in Lake Odessa. He died in 1936.

She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Lake Odessa.

Survivors include a son, Keith of Waterford, and daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Costello of Orleans; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Rose Irwin of Lake Odessa.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2:30 pm at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel at Lake Odessa. Rev. William Hertel officiated and interment was at Lakeside Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Lake Odessa Central United Methodist Church.
