Daniel attended Kokomo High School. He served in the U.S. Army as Corporal in the 340th Army Engineers, in which he helped build the Alaskan Highway and Clarks Airport in the Philippines. He retired from the A& P Grocery Store, where he met and fell in love with Oneeda, who he married. Daniel also was employed with Nehi Bottling Company, Haynes International (Cabot), where he retired in 1981 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club with Haynes, the 500 Bowling Club, and the K.O.F.F. Club. He also volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center, bowled with the “Over the Hill Gang”, and was the Senior Advisor to the Major. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, playing euchre and bingo.
Daniel is survived by his sons, Steven (Carol) Barker, and Michael (Marcia) Barker; grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Barker, Holly (Troy) Pratt, Travis (Kelly) Barker, Shaun (Christy) Barker, Chad (Christa) Barker; great grandchildren, Taylor & Madison Pratt, Evan & Andrew Barker, Jackson, Andrew & Tyler Barker, Carli, Calvin, Jace, Cameron, Preston, & Laney; sister-in-law, Wanda Hutto; nephew, Rex Hutto.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, wife Oneeda Barker, sisters, Betty Mang, and Mary Beheny.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Chaplain Joyce Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
