Southbridge - Paul Lucien Castonguay, 60, of Dennison Dr., died Friday, March 20, in his home, surrounded by his family and friends, after a long battle with melanoma. He leaves his wife of 36 years, Jacqueline (Spenard) Castonguay; two sons, Jesse Castonguay, and his wife, Jessie, of Southbridge, and Micah Castonguay, of Southbridge; one daughter, Amber Easler, and her husband, Matt, of North Carolina; and 4 grandchildren, Tevin, Brandon, Carter, and Malachi. He was predeceased by one son, Jacob Castonguay.

He was born on October 30, 1948, in Southbridge, the son of the late Lucien and Irene (Dumas) Castonguay, and lived in the area his entire life. He was in the United States Marine Corp from 1968 to 1972, serving in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed camping and fishing, hunting with his sons, and spending time with his family and grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Poppy." He enjoyed taking leisurely rides on his motorcycle with his wife and close friends. He was also an animal lover, always having a dog at his side.

Mr. Castonguay's passion and life's work was serving as an Elder and Preacher for 37 years as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, spending almost 30 years as an Elder in the Southbridge Congregation. He worked, for 18 years, on the Regional Building Committee, helping to build Kingdom Halls for other congregations. He greatly enjoyed serving Jehovah and His people, volunteering much of his time helping others. He will be remembered fondly, and greatly missed, by his close friends and his loving family, but he hoped to see them again through his heartfelt belief in the resurrection hope.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Southbridge Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 700 Worcester St., Southbridge. Arrangements are under the direction of the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southbridge West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 700 Worcester St., Southbridge, MA 01550.
