Martha Evaleene {Strother} Whittington Bryan, 97, of Oklahoma City, OK (formerly of Purdy, MO) went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Monday May 4, 2015 in Oklahoma City. She was born in Butterfield, MO on December 20, 1917, the daughter of the late William Arthur and Bithenia Emetia {Lake} Strother. She was united in marriage to Elbert Whittington Jr. in October of 1940; he preceded her in death in October of 1973. On May 31, 1975 she was united in marriage to David F. Bryan who preceded her in death on March 25, 2002.
She was a retired elementary school teacher in Kansas and a member of the Seminole Baptist Temple in Springfield, MO.
Evaleene is survived by one step-son: Dr. David Bryan and his wife Karen of Mustang, OK, three step-daughters: Janice Gleason and her husband Eddie of Estill Springs, TN, Marsha Crouch and her husband John of Baton Rouge, LA, and Susan Gilliland and her husband Don of El Dorado, KS; many nieces and nephews including Ruth Lavelle McLoughlin of Springfield, MO, and Dorthula Vorwerk of Springfield, MO, eleven step-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday May 7, 20105, Don Bair officiated. Burial at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Butterfield, MO.
