Perry Lee Wells

GALVESTON - Perry Lee Wells, 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at her residence. She was born December 20, 1915, in Washington County, Texas and moved to Galveston in 1935. In 1936, she married Douglas Scurry and thereafter gave birth to three children, a daughter Norma and sons Marvin and David. Inspired by the God she loved and worshiped all her days, she devoted her entire life unselfishly giving to those she loved and cared about. She was a loyal daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Those who cared about her will sadly miss her.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Jean Pickens; sons, Marvin Scurry; and wife Cherry Ann; David Scurry, and wife Susan; beloved grandchildren, Kenneth Scurry, and Sue of Houston; Ronald Scurry, and wife Sara of Houston; Marvin Scurry, Jr. of Galveston; Dione Scurry of Palmdale, California; Floyd Scurry of Houston; Denean Scurry of Palmdale, California; Dana Scurry of North Hollywood, California; Dustin Singleton of Sugarland; Dallas Garcia of La Marque; Kristin Scurry of Galveston; and Solomon Scurry of Galveston; her loving sisters Maude Esther Marshall of Houston, Prudie Marshall of Houston, Rachel Wade of La Marque, Clara Allen of La Marque, Ella Wade, and husband Elihue of Houston; a dear brother Godfrey Wells of Washington County; a host of devoted nieces and nephews, cousins, twenty-two great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents; mother, Mallie Hutchinson Wells and father, Perry Alfred Wells; sisters, Mary Ella Brown, Ophelia Roberson, Addie Roberson, Mattie Wade, Earline Wells, Viola Flanagan; and brother Perry Wells.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday February 7, 2004 at the West Point Baptist Church, 3003 Avenue M, Galveston, Texas. Interment will follow at the Whiting Family Cemetery, in Washington County, Texas.

Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m., Friday at the E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary, 3828 Avenue O, Galveston Texas.
