Charlie Shields was born July 4, 1913, in Leonard, Texas and grew up in Wolfe City, Texas.
He married Kathleen Lytlal January 1, 1935, in Greenville, Texas. They moved to Wylie, Texas
in 1946, where Mr. Shields later served in various civic capacities, including Wylie ISD Board,
City Council, Volunteer Fire Department, and as President of the Wylie Lions Club.

Mr. Shields was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1946 and served as church
treasurer from 1957 to 1972. He was a Deacon for 30 years and was honored as "Deacon
Emeritus" in 1986. Mr Shields was employed with Texas Instruments Inc. in Richardson, Texas,
from which he retired in 1978.

Charlie Shields is survived by his wife Kathleen; daughter Charleen Christopher of Richardson;
son Richard Shields of Lubbock; daughter Judy Huffhines of Houston; brother Marion Shields of
Lovington, New Mexico; sister Mary Ellen Shields of Wolfe City; six grandchildren and one
great grandchild. Charlie passed away suddenly from heart failure at his home Sunday,
September 25, 1988.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church Tuesday, September 27 with members
of his Sunday School Class serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Rev. A.L. Draper
and Rev. Gilbert Callaway officiated. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, Tx.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home in Wylie.
