Jason Allen Burns, 37, of Tiffany Street, Attleboro, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 4th, 2015 following complications with his diabetes.

Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on December 24, 1977, he was a son of Sandra Ellen (Ebert) Burns of Attleboro and the late Donald Edward Burns who passed away on February 28, 1990.

Mr. Burns was a lifelong resident of Attleboro, raised and educated in town and later raising his children in Attleboro as well.

Jay was self-employed in the construction trade for many years, with many years spent working for Jay Cashman on his personal private island off of Chatham, Massachusetts.

He specialized in drywall installation and was always helping family and friends with construction projects, sometimes for dinner and drinks as payment.

Jason enjoyed the simpler side of life, his world revolved around his close family and friends. He remained a “kid at heart” who loved camping and riding ATVs, not only with his own children, but with his nephew and his friends’ children. Most weekends Jay and his brother would host cookouts and work on projects together at home with friends.

In addition to time spent with his family, he treasured times spent deep sea fishing with his mother and brother, listening to country music, and relaxing around a bonfire with family and friends, roasting marshmallows with the kids.

In addition to his mother, he leaves three children: Jordan, Janessa, and Julian Coburn all of Attleboro; a brother: Shawn M. Burns of Attleboro; a nephew: Marcus Anthony Burns of Attleboro; his companion: Emily F Smith and his two-year old yellow lab, Bodhi; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Gathering and Visitation Celebrating His Life on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5:00 – 6:45 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home – the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, ¾ mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

A Service of Remembrance will immediately follow visitation on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. The Rev. Kelly K. Thibeault, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, North Attleboro, will officiate.

At the conclusion of services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at The Attleboro Lodge of Elks #1014, 887 South Main Street, Attleboro MA 02703.

Children’s room is available during funeral home visitation and services.

Private burial will be in Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro.
