Charlotte was educated in the Sumter County school system. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ and became a member at High Hills AME Church in Horatio. Later in life, she became a resident of Richland County and joined First Nazareth Baptist Church where she served faithfully for over 60 years until her illness.
Mrs. Payne was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She was awarded first place in the Haskell Heights community for best yard for many years. This was an inspiration to others to start beautifying their yards and spearheaded the competition among neighbors. Charlotte was a state retiree from Midlands Center, where she served as a dining attendant for many years.
Peacefully and quietly on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, Charlotte went home to our Lord at the Brian Nursing Facility Center.
