Calvin Leonodus Patterson, 81, of Fairview, died on Monday, May 4, 2015, at his residence.

A native of Franklin, NC, Mr. Patterson was a son of the late Leonodus and Naomi Elliott Patterson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of almost 62 years, Flora Lee Pack Patterson, who died on March 14, 2015; mother-in-law Dorothy Pack; and sister-in-law, Shirley Edwards.

Mr. Patterson was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1951-1954 in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years of service. He had been a member of Westwood Baptist Church and more recently Fairview Baptist Church.

Mr. Patterson is survived by his children, Tony Patterson and wife Martha, Jean Whitson and husband David, and Dottie King and husband Lonnie; grandchildren, Adam King, Lindsey Harris and husband Daniel, Noah Patterson, Nathan Whitson and wife Whitney, and Jonathan Whitson and wife Shannon; great-grandson Cooper Harris; sister-in-law, Florence Christopher; and his dogs, Cookie and Coco.

A funeral service for Mr. Patterson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, with the Rev. Dr. Carson Moseley and Pastor Todd Royal officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
