Edna L. Neal Edna L. Neal passed away on July 13th at the age of 102. She was born on September 5, 1909 near Happy Corner, Ohio. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, two brothers, and her husband Leroy Neal. She is survived by her son, David (Nancy) Neal; grandson, James Neal; granddaughter, Jennifer (Don) Miller; and a great granddaughter, Melissa Neal. Edna came to Lansing in 1936 following her marriage to Roy Neal. In 2000 she moved to Holt and in 2009 she moved to an assisted living facility in Ann Arbor. Edna's faith and friendships were very important to her. In addition to her immediate family, she had many nieces and nephews and their families that she held dear to her. She treated all of her friends as family. She started attending Westminster Presbyterian Church when she moved to Lansing and continued her membership there until her death. Edna was always up to volunteer to help others. She was an original driver for Meals on Wheels and continued driving for them until she was 96. She was a regular worker for Personal Needs and Advant House at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was honored for her volunteer work by the City of Lansing and by RSVP on several occasions. Edna loved playing cards and games. Euchre was her favorite and she continued playing until her death. She played in several bridge groups and at any opportunity for other games. She was an active member of UAW Retirees. At 86 she bought herself a bowling ball and joined a team. She ended up being the oldest person in the league. Edna enjoyed traveling. Her first trip was in 1927. As a teen ager she traveled through Yellowstone Park to the state of Washington with her father. Following her husband's retirement, they bought an Airstream Trailer and traveled throughout the country as well as Canada and Mexico. Later she was able to travel on several occasions to Europe and the far-east. A Memorial Service will be held at North-Westminster Church in Lansing to celebrate Edna's life on Sunday, August 19th at 2 pm. Visitation will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Edna's name to North-Westminster Presbyterian Church.
