Esther E. Schrank, age 96, formerly of the town of Newton, went to her Heavenly home Monday morning, May 4, 2015 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center.
The former Esther Gass was born on August 17, 1918 in the town of Newton daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie (Ansorge) Gass. On September 23, 1939 Esther was married to Leonard A. Schrank at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Liberty. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1996. The couple farmed in the town of Newton from 1939-1958. Esther retired from the Aluminum Specialty Company. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Newtonburg and a former member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church. Esther enjoyed cooking, bowling, gardening, fishing and her family.
Survivors include 3 daughters and 3 sons-in-law: Julie (Roger) Busse, Manitowoc; Carol (Daniel) Ruh, Manitowoc; Karlene (James) Brunmeier, Newton; 1 son and 2 daughters-in-law: Wayne (Kathy) Schrank, Manitowoc; Joyce Schrank, Manitowoc; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother: Reuben Gass, Newton; 1 sister-in-law: Gladys Gass, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Minnie Gass; her husband: Leonard A. Schrank; 1 son: Eugene Schrank; 3 sisters: Linda Bonde, Norma Vogel-Gabsch, Elsie Vogel; 2 brothers: Herman Gass; Harold Gass.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 7531 English Lake Road, Manitowoc. The Rev. Victor Headrick will officiate with burial at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
