Tom F. Owens, 52, of Austin, TX passed away Saturday, April 25th, 2015 after a long fight with Pancreatitis and an even longer life of love and happiness.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Owens, his sons, Chris, Adam and Brandonn Owens, his daughters, Heather Owens and Angela Almonte, his grandchildren, Cohen and Iriebean, his sister, Patricia Daniel, his brothers, Bill and Sammy Owens, his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ozment, and more friends and family than can possibly be listed here. He's singing karaoke right now in Heaven with his sister Melissa, and mother and father, Francis and William Owens. He was loved by many and will be missed.
Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Member of the Armed Forces and the Austin Police Department... He touched many lives in his short time here. He made a great impact on every single person he met. That smile that reached his eyes, the hand which was always extended to you, the shoulder which could always be counted on... His sense of humor, his sense of style, his sense of loyalty, his sense of honor... He was a great man.
He joined the Armed Forces as a Military Police Officer in 1981 and the Austin Police Department in 1999, and made many lasting friendships during his time. He remained close with his brothers from his service. He had always known he wanted to be a police officer and was proud to be a Brother in Blue and felt honored to serve his community.
His love extended to all of us while he was here and will remain with us always in our hearts. His family meant everything to him, and his extended family included every friendship. He struggled with his illness for the last few years, but through all of it he wanted to see us smile. He is no longer in pain and he has found his peace. May you find solace in that.
He will be cremated per his wishes and his family has decided to spread his ashes in the Caribbean, where he finds his peace.
