Well Known Democratic Leader of County was Ill but a Week
WAS CHAIRMAN OF CO BOARD 3 YEARS
Ex-sheriff Henry Lehman, one of the best known men of Manitowoc County, prominent in politics and a progressive farmer, died at his home at Two Creeks early today.Mr. Lehrman's death was due to diabetes from which he had been a sufferer for some time. He had been seriously ill but one week. Mr. Lehrman was elected sheriff of Manitowoc County on the democratic ticket in the campaign of 1898, succeeding Christ Muth and he served one term, never having been a candidate for re-election. Following his retirement, Mr. Lehrman was elected chairman of the county board, a position he held for three consecutive years.
Through his service in office, Mr. Lehrman became widely known in the county and in neighboring counties and he was held in esteem as official and man. He was genial, whole souled and number his friends by the legion. Since his retirement from public
life, Mr. Lehrman had made his home on a farm in Two Creeks and was one of the most prominent men of that section in which he made his home. Though friends had know that Mr. Lehrman was not well, his condition was not thought to be serious at any time and the news of his death was a shock in the city. Mr. Lehrman was forced to take to his bed a week ago and for several days his condition has held no promise of recovery. Mr. Lehrman is survived by a widow and family ofeleven children at Two Creeks. The funeral will be held there, probably on Friday,
though no definite date has been fixed.

Mishicot:
At 1 o'clock on last Tuesday morning, the angel of death entered the Lehrman(sic) home of our town and took from their home beloved husband and father, Mr. Henry Lehrman. Mr. Lehrman was born forty-eight years ago on the farm occupied by his son, Mr. William Lehrman of this town. He was married to Miss Libbie Frasch twenty-five years ago and lived on the homestead farm -- illegible -- sheriff of Manitowoc County. The manner in which he performed the duties of this office did honor to Mr. Lehrman.
After his term expired he again took up the duties of farm life on the old homestead and remained there until about six years ago when he purchased a part of the Pfister estate and moved to Two Creeks which has been his home. Mr. Lehrman has been the most prominent man in our town for many years being the
leader in every project that was beneficial to our town. He was chairman of our town for many years and was chairman of the county board at Manitowoc during the construction of the Court House at which time he extended great influence. After Mr. Lehrman retired from the Chairman's office he started the Two Creeks Co-operative Cheese Co. and to him its success is due, more than to any other man being president of this Cheese Co. to the time of his death. Since he was a young man he was always interested in threshing and he has had a threshing rig of his own for many years and was the owner of two rigs until about four years ago. His friendly face will be missed by his many friends when the threshing season opens again. Mr. Lehrman is survived by a heart broken wife and a large family of grief stricken children, his family of four sons and seven daughters. He is also survived by one brother, Mr. August Lehrman of this town and several sisters. The remains of the deceased were taken to their last resting place at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Mack's Cemetery.
