Charlotte was born in Lenz, Kreis Saatzig, Pommern (now Łęczyca, Poland). She married Wilhelm Friedrich Erdmann Retzlaff on 13 July 1874 in Parlin, Kreis Naugard, Pommern (now Parlino, Poland).

church, burial taking place at Mack's cemetery at Two Creeks.

Mrs. William Retzlaff of Two Creeks passed away at her home Friday morning, aged
73 years. Mrs. Retzlaff, nee Charlotte Schwahart was born in Germany in 1851 and
came to this vicinity to reside about 40 years ago. Her husband passed away two
and a half years ago. Two sons and three daughters, survive namely, William,
Frank, Mrs. Bertha Engelland, Mrs. Anna Lehrmann and Mrs. Helen Walter. Mrs.
Retzlaff is also survived by 17 grandchildren. The funeral was held Monday
afternoon at 1 o'clock from St. John's Lutheran Church, Two Creeks. Interment
was in the Two Creeks cemetery, Rev. Kirchner officiating.
