Hilmar Schaetter, 56, prominent local furniture dealer, proprietor of Schaetter Furniture Store and a World War I veteran, died in a local hospital at 10:05 a.m. Monday.
Schaetter who had been ill for several months was laid to rest in services conducted in the Schaetter's Funeral Home this morning, Wednesday, October 27, 1948 at 9:30 a.m., and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church.
Msgr. F. X. Wolf and Rev. Thomas Coleman officiated in the rites. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery.
He was born in Gillespie County on January 8, 1892, the son of the late Joseph and Anna Jung Schaetter. At the time of his death, he had attained the age of 53 years, 9 months and 17 days.
On July 29, 1919, he was united in marriage with Miss Thekla Staudt.
Survivors include his wife; a son Alois Schaetter; a daughter, Miss Eleanor Schaetter; three brothers, Edwin, Arthur, Henry Schaetter; and one sister, Miss Margaret Schaetter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Anna; and a brother Alex Schaetter.
