A graveside funeral service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery for Stanley Charles Barrett, 89. Stan was born in Taft on January 1, 1926 and passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2015. Stan loved Taft Union High School with a passion. He graduated with the class of 1943. He became a teacher, was Director of R.O.P. and, after retiring, served on the Board of Trustees for 20 years. He also had a passion for cars and loved rebuilding antique automobiles, his latest being a 1929 Model A Ford. Stan is survived by his wife, daughter, granddaughter, brother, sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. A special thank you to Optimal Hospice for all the great care they provided. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Stan Barrett Memorial Scholarship Fund with checks made payable to Taft Union High School, 701 Wildcat Way, Taft, CA 93268 or contact the TUHS business office at 661 763-2313. There are no visitation hours scheduled.
