Lt.Dale Edwards was the co-pilot of a B26 Serial No.42-107574 in the 496th Bomber Squadron,344th Bomber Group stationed at Stanstead England. On the 10th June 1944 his aircraft was one of a formation attacking the area of Valognes on the Cherbourg Peninsula France. The aircraft had dropped its bomb load over the target and was heading back towards the Channel when it was hit by enemy flak. The aircraft burst into flames crashed and exploded on impact. There were no survivors.Lt.Dale Edwards was from Ohio and its believed his remains were returned to his family after the war.
