August A. 'Gus' Nauert, age 53, of 1814 Locust, died unexpectedly in his home on Friday, January 25, 2013. He was born on July 22, 1959 in St. Mary's Hospital in Quincy the son of Jim & Barb (Pfanner) Nauert. Gus was a member of St. Francis Solanus Church. He graduated from grammar school at St. Francis and was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School.

Gus started his working career at the Packaging Corp and worked there until it closed. He then worked as a supervisor at Shellor Globe. When it closed he became Superintendent at Shellor Globe in Holland, Michigan. The Plant was sold and he came back to Quincy as a supervisor at Knapheide Manufacturing Co. He later took a Superintendent position at Liggett and Platt in West Chester, Ohio. When they downsized, he came back to Quincy as a supervisor at Methode in Carthage and he later worked for the City of Quincy. He always prided himself on not being late for work. Gus had been in ill health for the past several years.

Gus enjoyed keeping his yard in top notch condition, working in his garden and visiting with family and friends. He also always stayed abreast of what was happening in Quincy. He was a Democrat, as his front yard displayed to everyone his belief at election time with many campaign signs.

In addition to his parents, Jim & Barb Nauert, Gus is also survived by:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Andrea Stolarz of Canton, MO and Natalie Coriell and her husband Matt of St. Louis, MO.
FOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Skylar and Lily Stolarz, Cooper Bindseil, and Dottie Coriell.
SIBLINGS: Jeff Nauert and his wife Penny of Tulsa, OK; Amy Poore and her husband Jerry and Jolene Nauert of Quincy.
He is also survived by his baptismal Godparents: Bill & Mary Moore along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Gus was preceded in death by his grandparents Henry and Dorothy Nauert and arthur and Bernadine Pfanner and a favorite cousin Phyllis Berry.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 10:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:00 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis School or masses may be given in his name at St. Francis Church.
